Stacey Hayes
Why did you choose to work in this field?
My grandmother had a son with special needs and I became interested in helping people with disabilities. I have found it to be a very rewarding career.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I enjoy taking the clients out into the community. The businesses and residents are always friendly to the clients and make them feel welcomed when participating in local activities and events.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my family, vacations, swimming, shopping and getting my nails done.
Stacy has worked for accessAbilities for over three years. She lives in the Mountain View area with her three children and their Yorkie named Bella.
Pamela A. Turner
Why did you choose to work in this field?
It’s my passion. I love working with all people, especially those with a need.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I find my clients are interesting with their life situations. I want to make their lives more meaningful and productive. I want to give them contentment.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Some activities I enjoy are bowling, taking walks, biking, gardening, playing games and cards.
Pamela has worked for accessAbilities as a personal caregiver for 13 years.
Kylie Mulnix
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I chose this field because I like helping people. It is important to me to be a part of insuring someone’s well‑being while helping them maintain their independence.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
This is not just another job. Everyone is unique and there is something new every day. I like problem solving with my participants. I am learning so much.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy painting, drawing and making jewelry. I also enjoy music as a way to relieve stress and help me become centered. My favorite past-time is shopping with my grandmother Patty.
Kylie has worked for accessAbilities for six months. She is a Junior at Seton Hill University working towards her degree in Art Education.
Jozzie Stonebraker
Why did you choose to work in this field?
My experience as a combat medic help me realize how much I really enjoyed caring for others. I considered nursing school, but was not able to enroll at that time.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I really like the one-on-one relationship in a home‑care environment. The participants are easy to get along with and make me feel welcome – it doesn’t feel like a job. accessAbilities has great benefits and flexible scheduling.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking, fishing and children’s events. I still have an interest pursuing nursing school in the future.
Jozzie has worked with accessAbilities for two years. She is a mother of three and served in the United States Army as a combat medic.
Deborah (Lori) Ruffner
Why did you choose to work in this field?
Originally, I was a young person looking for a job. Thirty years later, I think it’s safe to say that the job chose me. I can’t image doing anything else.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I like and prefer the freedom of home care. Each participant deserves and gets one-on-one care. They are all very different from one another and that keeps the job interesting.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Spending time with my family is always first. I also enjoy swimming, crocheting, reading and having bonfires in our yard with family and friends.
Deborah has worked for accessAbilities for 7 months. She is married with 5 children, 2 step children and 4 grandchildren.
Cathy Cornman
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I chose this field because I like helping people and found this field very rewarding. I enjoy helping people continue to live at home and keep them out of a nursing home.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
What I like most about working at accessAbilities is seeing the joy on the clients face knowing they are able to remain at home. It makes me feel good to know I am making a difference in their lives.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy gardening, camping, spending time with my husband and our three dogs and sewing. I have been sewing face masks for over a year now.
Cathy has worked for accessAbilities for nearly 13 years.
Bonnie Dulany
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I needed a job to supplement my income, but wanted to be able to take care of my son who has a brain injury. I soon realized that consumers needed advocates and information on community resources.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
This is not just a 9-5 job, the tasks are always changing so its never boring. The administrative staff is easy to talk to and a great group of co-workers
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy reading, working on my house, knitting & crocheting, listening to politics, traveling, and learning the history of other countries. I have invested many years as a volunteer leading an advocacy group and facilitating a family support group for addiction. Additionally, I coordinate an AA meeting at the jail and a sponsor for other women.
Life-long struggles have taught me the importance of caring deeply about what I can give back by contributing to someone else’s life. Living life to be an advocate for others is important to me and I have been able to achieve that through my work with clients served at accessAbilities Home and Community Services.
Elita Dare
Why did you choose to work in this field?
Elita began her caregiving journey after retiring from social work. She joined the team after working for some time as a caregiver. “I love working for accessAbilities – they are very professional, treat their clients well and back up staff.”
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
Wonderful relationships with wonderful people.
What are your interests and hobbies?
Elita is an animal lover with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 7 chickens. She loves to travel for Native American Pow Wow’s and get together with family and friends. Elita previously worked at the Three Rivers Indian Center and also dances for some of the Pow Wow’s in Ohio and New York. and Behavior.
Elita has 7 children of which 3 were adopted and 2 grandchildren. Elita was born in Denver and grew up in the state of New York.
Alice Harner
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I took care of my mother before she passed away and now use that knowledge to help the clients we serve.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
Each client we serve has different situations and needs, so it’s something new everyday. It makes me appreciate life more.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy remodeling my home, sewing and baking cakes for special occasions.
Alice has worked for accessAbilities for nearly five years. She has three children, nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She is also expecting a great grandson very soon.
Kelia Ellenberger
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I was looking for work when I came across accessAbilities. I appreciate how the Agency treats participants and attendants in a caring manner.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I have met so many nice people at accessAbilities. The best part is working with the participants to meet their needs and goals.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy sitting by the fire and relaxing. I also enjoy crafting in my spare time.

Theresa Lenker
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I started in this field when I was between jobs and my current client asked me to be his attendant.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I really enjoy working with my client. He makes me smile and never has a complaint. It has been the most rewarding experience.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy being spending as much time in the mountains as I can, painting wildlife, cooking and helping with animal rescue when possible.
Theresa has worked as a personal caregiver with accessAbilities for twelve years.
Angela Alan
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I have two daughters, ages 22 and almost 15, who have disabilities. Seeing the way they struggle with little things daily, I wanted to not only help them, but help others who may be struggling too.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
There is never a dull moment and knowing I made a person’s day a little bit easier makes me feel good.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I love photography (it is a hobby I have been doing for 25 years), Disney and spending time with my family and fur babies, which include two dogs, a new puppy, five cats, three turtles and fish.
Angela has worked for accessAbilities as a personal caregiver for a little over a year. She lives with her husband of nearly 25 years and their two daughters.
Gerald Alan
Why did you choose to work in this field?
I have two daughters that have a disability and I enjoy helping them and wanted to help other people if I can.
What do you like about working with accessAbilities clients?
I find it rewarding to have the ability to teach others and enjoy learning from them as well.
What are your interests and hobbies?
My interests and hobbies include traveling, finding waterfalls and going to Walt Disney World where I enjoy collecting Disney mementos. I currently have two daughters, and no grandchildren yet. God will give them in his time. We have three turtles, five cats and a dozen fish, which I call Jerry’s Zoo!!
